If the chat room is empty, come in and hang out anyway, it'll encourage others to stop by. We don't bite (wellllll, not outside of a scene anyway and most of us are rabies free too).

Point taken in some respects. I know I frequently will hang in the room while doing other work, waiting for someone to appear. Occasionally people will pop in, say hi and leave before I have a chance to check back in the chat window, or I'll time out of the chat room (annoying but it has cut down on the number of ghosts in the room).
That said, if we don't try to wait for other, no one will. The webmaster provided us with a tool for communication, it's up to U/us to make the chat room work or let it wither on the vine.
Issib.......my computer has been down for awhile. Since coming back online I wuld say this webmaster has really letthe site go down from what it once was. Even if and when I sit in the chat room no one comes in. Hmmm might be no one want to talk to me. Hadn't thought of that. The site isn't what it used to be. The chat room used to be so filled. Talked to DLW and she said no one wants to wait in the the room. Wish it was like days of old when you could talk to people from all over. All this site seems to be now is a picture viewing place!Crownman.

This sounds odd to me Sir, as i'm in the chat often, and the only people that get ignored are the ones that pop in and demand online service without so much of a hello or a profile. As i don't think that You would do such a thing, there are only two explanations for what You encountered: 1. E/everyone else was a ghost. 2. or You came during that rare time when the people in the room just want to watch and not talk.

I haven't visited the chatroom in quite a while, so this may not be correct now... however, when I was there last, you could double-click a member's name to open a private channel.
Perhaps one of the others will verify or correct this.
Yes, if you left click on the users ID that you wish to talk with privately, a drop down menu gives you the option to select private chat, click on that option, and then you can talk privately
