There are times you really apreciate it if you know the owner of your favourite restaurant. Last week I went with a gorgeous woman I´ve known for years to my fav. indian eatery, we had no reservation, but thanks to being a long-time client we got a table and although we knew it would take quite a while to be served, we where just happy to let the time pass with a nice bottle of Remy champagne (which we finished). After maybe 3/4 of an hour we had the waiter´s full attention and ordered several spicy little starters, I also ordered the recommended lamb with a Dahl (beans) side dish which was supposed to be perfect match.

Just as the waiter was leaving our table, the owner came to our table and, apologizing to K. (my date, whom he has seen a couple of times), asked whether I could spare a minute of my time. Wondering, I followed him to the kitchen, as soon as we crossed the kitchen doors he told me :
"My friend, sorry to intrude like this but you had maybe half a bottle of Remy, K. is as stunning as always and there is a certain spark in her eyes..."
I didn´t understand a thing so I asked :

"Shak -his nickname- just what the hell are you talking about?"

Grinning all over his tanned face, he switched back to his original Leeds - accent and told me :
"Mate, you eat those Dahl beans after that all that sparky and you´ll have stormy night with K.! Take my word for it, sure you´ll blow her brains out, but´s going to be an evil wind!"

It took me a moment to get it, but as I returned to K. the tears of laughter where still running down my cheeks.

The waiter (Shak´s nephew) wondered mightily about the 50 GBP tip we left, but wasn´t it well earned?

K. of course asked what it had been all about, when I told her, much, much later, she almost fell out of the bed.
