What is "Status"

My profile says at the top "You do not yet have a status".

A few lines below it says "Status: Authenticated User"

So it seems that there are at least two meanings of status.

On the home page I see a list of status updates over on the right. There is the Beta v4 announcement and the Newsfeeds (which seem mostly to be who voted on what picture, along with a few comments on what Webmistress has done) - which seems pretty useless (the voting).

SO - wtf is "Status"?

My profile says at the top

My profile says at the top "You do not yet have a status" - this is the place, where you can tell other users, what you are doing at the moment - ex - Master1Alan is looking for a new slave or Master1Alan is happy.

The other status is about, which kind of user you are. You can be an Authenticated User, member, moderator or a VIP member.
